Light Rendering Challenge:
Want some challenging graphite rendering practice? Try rendering the following:
- 1. A crumpled shirt or a draped dress. (Silk textile for more of a challenge).
- 2. A crushed pop can. (the study of reflection of light).
- 3. A spoon in a half-filled glass of water. (The study of refraction of light).
Try to study the following under a single light source for well defined highlights and shadows. change the light to best obtain the desired look. avoid moving around and try to maintain the viewpoint/perspective. Try using a stump to blend graphite (Notice the right side of the shirt). This exercise will help train your eyes to see details and shapes in reflected and refracted light.
